Christmas Time!

I loved talking to you guys on Christmas day.

On Christmas day after Skyping we stayed at the Branch President’s house and he made us dinner and we played dominoes.  Afterwards we took a couple of pictures in the park.

I am not sure what we are going to do for P-day, Elder Schlub and his companion are in charge.

I have no idea what we are supposed to do for the New Year, hopefully we will find out soon.

Besides the phone call, my favorite part of last week was Tuesday because we went Christmas caroling as a district to the less active members in our ward.

Least favorite day of last week was Saturday because it seemed like people were in bad moods.
Something that made me laugh was I literally got stuck in the mud while trying to maneuver my way across a muddy field to get to a house.  So now my boots are completely covered in mud.

Something that really touched me was our investigator Antonio’s daughter Jordan sang Happy Birthday to Jesus on Christmas day.  He showed us a recording of it and it was so cute!

Our other investigator, Kevin, is good.  He has an interview with our mission president this next Sunday.  Everyone is progressing nicely and we go two more investigators, so we are being kept busy.

Truth be told I hate being senior companion.  I don’t want to remember struggling my last two months in the mission.  (Funny thing that just came to my mind…the Saviors last days were not his favorite either, yet he fulfilled his mission.  I just have to endure.)

Well, I gotta go.

Love ya!
Sis. Donner

Senior Companion

December 22

The ward Christmas party was really fun, there were a tone of people there too; every ward had a party.

I am called boss now because I am the senior companion.

I am finally getting over my cold, but now I am starting to get a sore throat, I can’t win.  I actually got cough drops today and Kleenex, so I should be covered.

Ok, so something really cute that happened was with our new investigators daughter Jordan who is 4.  We showed her a picture of Jesus and asked her if she knew who it was.  She said no, so we told her it was Jesus.  She replied, “Jesus!” and hugged the photo of him.  It was so stinkin’ cute!

Something that made me laugh is during Zone conference we had a white elephant and one of the zone leaders, Elder Savage, opened his gift and he got Eeyore slippers, but then someone stole them.  So he opened another gift and it was another pair of slippers.  So, he immediately put them on his feet so no one could steal them.  It was hysterical!

We have a baptismal date set for January 17th for a guy named Cameron who already knows a lot and just needs to be taught the lessons; he is golden.  The Lord has really blessed us a lot this transfer.
Last week I struggled with not being depressed.  I actually talked to Heavenly Father today and it made me feel a lot better.  I seem to be having longer conversations with him lately.  He is sending me beautiful mornings to make up for the hard days.

My favorite part of last week was Zone conference because we had a lot of musical numbers, and sang Christmas songs, and just had fun.  I sang a solo during Zone Conference, Away in a Manger.
I enjoy every story I read each day and the ornaments, they really help me to reflect on things better about the meaning of Christmas and things I am going to change about me.

My least favorite part of last week was Saturday.  It was pouring rain and cold, and we had two service projects.  We had not dinner because the family forgot.

I have no idea who we will be eating Christmas dinner with because 9 families want us to come over that day, so we will see.

Gotta go...
Love ya!
Sis. Donner

We came home last night and found this from the family we stay with.  I just love them!

New Investigators!

I don’t know exactly how to explain how I am feeling.  My cold has gotten worse; Saturday is when it became worse.  I can hardly breathe because I am so congested, but I am doing everything I can to get rid of my cold, so don’t worry.

Holding Bunny at one of our investigators homes.
Zone meeting was really good. We talked about what is a good lesson and about listening to our investigators.  Speaking of investigator, they are doing really well.   We have two baptismal dates for January 10th and two new investigators!  The investigators were pretty much given to us from God.  They actually came up to us and asked if they could take the missionary lessons.  It was awesome!
So the threesome isn’t all that bad except I am sometimes left out of conversations and it is a struggle for me.

For today we still need to go shopping, so we will do that after we finish emailing.  We have a progressive dinner for FHE tonight in the YSA ward and we have a ward Christmas party this Friday.

My favorite part of last week was Sunday because we received the two new investigators that day.

I will be able to go to the temple again on February 26 before I leave the mission.

Gotta go…

Love ya!

The pictures I sent are of the  Ahyou's cat.  You have no idea how he likes to drive us crazy!

Tis the Season...

I am staying with Sis. Wright and we are in a trio.  Our new companion is Sis. Neu and she is the cousin of my last companion.  She has been out 6 months and she is the oldest and has four brothers and is from Hawaii.  She was at BYU for a year before coming on a mission and she always wanted to serve a mission. We became a trio because they combined my old area with the elder's area. We all get along pretty well.  We have bunk beds now, and I am on the bottom bunk.

My week was pretty good.  We saw a lot of people and we have a new investigator.  Sadly we had two investigators drop us this week and one of them was on target to get baptized but he was afraid he would lose family members.  But overall, it has been a pretty good week.

The white elephant gift exchange last week was actually pretty boring.  There was no fighting over gifts or anything.  For the white elephant gift I bought fruit cake. LOL

My health has been pretty good for the most part.  I've been fighting a cold that came with a fever, but it’s all good.  I’m surviving.

The weather is being bi-polar right now.  It will rain, then the fog rolls in, and then it’s sunny.  I’m staying warm, so no worries.

My favorite part of last week was taking pictures in a park full of lights at night.  It was really cold, but really fun.

So a couple of things made me laugh.  One was we got stuck in mud...the both of us. Then when we were headed home, I was talking to Sis. Wright about a scary movie and suddenly our car completely slows down to going 10 miles per mile. so we basically inched our way back home...I was laughing so hard. Then one time my companion decided to scare me so she jumps out around a corner and I jump back and fall on my bum. She was laughing so hard at my reaction.

This past weekend we had a ward Christmas party where we were to dress up as “Who’s” and we talked about how He is the Gift.

Something that touched my spirit was during testimony meeting on Sunday Sis. Wright and I were basically called angels because we were the answer to a 13 year old boy's prayer.

We watched the Christmas Devotional at a members house, but we missed the beginning of it.  By the way, I love opening the letters each day that go along with the Christmas tree.  The stories really touch my heart.

We listen to the Christmas CD's you sent in the car.

I am looking forward to the Zone meeting this week.

I haven't asked about the phone call on Christmas yet...sorry!

Gotta go,..Love ya!
Sis. Donner

THANKSGIVING

Thanksgiving was low key for us.  I think the only new food I had on Thanksgiving was green bean casserole.  My favorite part of last week was definitely Thanksgiving.  We listened to Christmas music and just had a good time.  Our weather was nice for Thanksgiving, but now it is snowing.  I am doing my best to stay warm.

Church was really mellow, which was nice for a change; no meetings whatsoever.

Something that really touched me is the member we live with put up stockings when we left for the day, so when we came home the stockings were hanging up.

Something that I am looking forward to this week, well not really looking forward to, but I can’t wait for transfers this coming Saturday.  Please pray that me and my companion stay together for at least one more transfer.

Something that made me laugh was getting stuck in the mud with my flat soled shoes.  I had decided not to wear my boots because it looked like a nice day…wrong!  It had rained, so when I got out of the car to head into an appointment I literally sank into the mud and had a fun time trying to even walk in

Sis Wright and I are doing fine.  We laugh a lot and talk about everything.  The district is doing fine too, just as quirky and fun as can be.  So half our investigators are doing well and keeping their commitments, the other ones are getting slammed with trials, but they are doing well.

I didn’t get the CD you sent, but I did get the package with the miniature Christmas tree.  I absolutely love it!

Have you heard “He is the Gift”?  It’s an awesome Christmas video, you should watch it.  It’s on Christmas.mormon.org.  Encourage everyone to share it.

The rest of our p-day we are shopping, cleaning and doing a white elephant gift with the district around 3:30 at the church. We have a dinner appointment today at 5:30.   I have no idea what I will get for the white elephant gift.

Gotta go,

Love,
Sis. Donner

Busy, Busy, Busy!

President Lewis presented me with a birthday cake.
Hahaha, the snow is melting!  My birthday last Monday was awesome.  FHE with the singles ward last week is the same as being at the one at home. We are celebrating Sis. Wright’s birthday today.

Last week was hectic.  We had district meeting on Tuesday and then Zone Conference on Wednesday and then had a break before going to the Nashville Tribute concert which was amazing!  All of our investigators came; even a less active who was a DNC came.  Oh, and we met all of the band members, they were really nice and the concert was a lot of fun!

Our investigators are slowly progressing.  Saturday we went tracting and had little success, we even had a door slammed and locked on us.
President & Sister Cannon with me at the concert
This week flew by so fast that I have not had a chance to think about how each day went.  Something that made me laugh is on Friday we were visiting a member and her kid locked her out because she wouldn't give him popcorn.  LOL  Another funny thing is my companion recorded me walking in the snow, I look ridiculous.

Something that touched my spirit is I have currently been struggling to be sincere with each prayer I say, so it was kind of interesting when we went to a member’s house for dinner and she had had the same problem; she helped counsel me about it.

This week I am honestly looking forward to Thanksgiving because the members we are eating with are just a warm, kind family.  They really make you feel like you are home.  They are an awesome family.  Afterwards, we are visiting with members.
Nashville Tribute

Sis. Wright and I are doing fine.  We are hoping to stay another transfer with each other.  We are currently studying teaching skills and recognizing the Spirit.

A little favor to ask, could you please make a Christmas CD that we can listen to?

Have a great week!

Love ya!

Sis. Donner

21st Birthday!

Hey Mom,

So today has been an awesome day so far.  Sis. Wright sang happy birthday to me, so that was
awesome.  I opened the package you sent, and I love everything!  Thank you so much!  Sis. Wright and I are doing great!  The district is fine.  We are going to play hide and seek for my b-day. Lol

YES, IT SNOWED A LOT!  According to everyone that lives here, it never snows this early.

So, hahaha, our week was funny, interesting, and really cold.  It was -7 degrees yesterday morning, and we had a meeting.  The weather has been in the 30’s or below.  We have tried to be as careful as possible when driving because the roads here are completely covered in ice.  I will just tell you now; I have slipped in the ice 3 times already.  We've had some crazy experience in the snow.

First, we accidentally drove the car into a small ditch.  It was pretty funny and embarrassing, all at the same time.  LOL Luckily some member was close by and helped us get out.  The second thing that happened in the snow happened that very same day when we.  When we got home we thought we were just going to be able to go inside.  Nope!  The back truck wouldn't close, so it took us till 12am to close it.  We succeeded only after we un-melted the lock to the truck that has frozen.  Needless to say, we were exhausted.  So that happened Saturday night, so on Sunday I was sleepy.  During one of the talks, the power went out for the rest of the meeting. LOL it was so funny.  The rest of the speakers did fine just speaking louder without the microphone.

Our investigators are doing well.  Dustin in the newest one and he is slowing progressing. He said the prayer the first time we asked him.

So my least favorite day was Friday because it snowed. We had to spend four hours just shoveling a pathway so we could get out. Not FUN!

My favorite part of last week was Saturday, minus the evening, because we were able to see a DNC (Do Not Contact) person who was really nice and let us in.  This area is just awesome.

So I told you all of the funny moments except yesterday in ward council.  Sis. Wright announced, “It’s Sis. Donner’s birthday tomorrow.”  I nearly died.

That has been my week!

Love Ya!

Sis. Donner

Side note:  A member took the time to send a video and picture of Nicki and wrote, “She is getting lots of love!  The missionaries are having cake and playing games at the church and then for FHE tonight for the singles branch we are celebrating with her by having a cake.  She is well loved!”

I learned why you don't shovel snow in your workout clothes.

This is how we dressed Saturday night to get the trunk unstuck.

Sis. Wright took pictures of me opening my birthday package:

Awesome Week!

My week was awesome and exhausting.

I got the stamps and the package, thank you so much.
It is really cold in the mornings and it is rumored that Thursday we should be getting some snow.

What I meant when I said that I needed an adapter for my camera was that I needed an SD card reader, but thanks for the other stuff you sent.

I love all the wards I am in; they are all pretty big.  We actually have a couple of investigators.  James who is 18 and is golden.  Then there is Kevin who knows everything we teach is true, but has a WOW problem.  Then we have Dustin who seems to want to learn more.  So those are just a few.

Sis. Wright and I are just fine.  I think she is one of my favorite companions.  She doesn’t get mad easily or impatient.  She loves taking pictures and likes having fun.  She remembers small details I tell her and she is always smiling.  I sent a picture of me and Sis. Wright.

So, I don’t think there was a bad part of last week, hahaha, well, except yesterday because my legs were really sore from a service project we did on Saturday.  I basically had a really restless night and a really bad dream, but I did stay awake for all three sacraments, I am just really hungry during them.

Something that made me laugh happened yesterday when we were coming out of our dinner appointment.  It is pitch black outside and I couldn’t see a thing, so I am trying to be as careful as possible, but I ended up stumbling into a dark hole.  I had to laugh at myself.

Something that touched my spirit is how wonderful this district works together and accepts everyone.

I am actually not having too many struggles here, I guess the one struggle is not being trunky.  I did receive my travel papers and I was hoping I wouldn’t have to fly home…I get air sick.

I will email you as soon as I know when the Christmas call will happen and what to do.  Hahaha It will be really weird seeing everyone and knowing I will have two month left after Christmas.

I gotta go now!

Love ya!

Halloween in Middleton

Thanks for all the Halloween pictures, they are really cute.  This week has been totally awesome and exhausting.  We had three service projects this week raking up leaves and it was a blast!

I think my favorite day of this week was Saturday, even though it rained all stinkin’ day, we still had fun tracting.  First we had Super Saturday with the relief society and then we went on a tracting blitz with the district.

Halloween Night
My least favorite day was yesterday, Sunday, because we got up at 5 in the morning even though our phone said it was 6.  We attend all three wards Sacraments, but we leave early to go visit people.

A lot of funny things happened this week.  One, I almost slipped in a puddle, but I caught myself.  Two, while role playing one of the elders pretended to be an older lady and in the role play they completely forgot the name of the older lady and said a differ name.  This district is going to be fun.  There are 11 missionaries in our district and another set of sisters.

Something spiritual that happened was Sis. Wright was able to answer on of the questions I had on the atonement and she explained it in a really awesome way.  I had been told in previous priesthood blessing to study the atonement, and I never really knew why.

Super Saturday
Ok, about my new companion, She is 22 and has already graduated from BYU.  She is paying for her own mission.  She is the fifth of 8 kids.  She wants to be strictly obedient which is awesome!  She knows how to dance and she loves music just like me.  She is very easy to get along with and she is very creative.

It’s weird to know that I only have 5 months left and that I will be turning 21 soon.  I have no idea what I want for my b-day.

Gotta go,
Sis. Donner

Transferred!

October 27th

Sorry it has taken me so long to email today, I have had a long day.  I did get transferred and I am now serving in Middleton.  We went in a van from Nampa to a transfer spot in Caldwell and then to Middleton.  It took almost an hour getting there.  It has been a good change so far.  My new companions name is Sis. Wright and has 9 months left.  She has an Hawaiian complexion and she is really pretty. She is really nice, she is originally from Hawaii and she is all about obedience.  I love it!!!!

A couple of people from my zone were transferred, but not that many.  Sis. Fonua is not with another Tongan sister.  She is from South Carolina and has been out a couple of transfers.

This past week was not that eventful and not fun.
Our investigator is doing fine.

Nieder Family
It rained all day on Thursday, so we didn’t get much done.
My cold is slowly leaving and I have literally been out of it, like I said, it wasn’t a really good week.  We did have a good day on Saturday.  I was able to visit some members and say good bye.

In my new area we cover three wards, so we are going to be kept pretty busy.  We have a car and a cd player in the car. She is a good driver. The members switch off feeding us.  I don’t know any of the Elders in my new area, but they are very friendly.

Johnson Family
Something that touched my spirit on Sunday was how many people on Sunday told me how much I had touched their lives.

Something that made me laugh was last night I threw a pillow at Sis. Fonua because she was being a pill.  She wasn’t ready for it and it scared her. Lol  Now that I’m gone I don’t have to worry about her retaliating.

I did get the packages you sent.  Thanks!

I gotta go,

Sis. Donner

Blah Week...

October 20th

My week in one word was Blah!  I was sick two days in a row.  My cold is so-so.  It is there, but it is to the point I can just ignore it. My headaches are caused from the wind, and because it is cold in the morning and hot during the afternoon.

The talk I gave last week was on the Holy Ghost.  I can talk clearly now, but I still can’t look up for that long.  I was lightheaded the whole time because I wasn’t feeling well.

I have been struggling this week with not being discouraged and not being busy and trying to understand my role right now, so at church yesterday and throughout the day I was asked to say the prayer like 5 times.  The sacrament talks that were given were about spiritual strength and physical strength, so that was awesome.  Another awesome thing we were able to do last night was go to a fireside where Joseph Smith’s great, great, great, great granddaughter spoke.  It was really cool and informative.

My least favorite part of last week was Wednesday because I was really sick.  I was not a happy camper. We had a district meeting and our interview was that day. My interview with President was good.  We talked about which person in the book of Mormon I admire most, and I said Ammon
My favorite part of last week was Thursday, we pretty much had a chill day and visited members.
Something that made me laugh this week was a little girl named Lauren was eating her snack and then looked over at me, and then came over and started feeding me her snack. lol

Our investigator Liz is great!  We did not get to teach her last week, and this week we actually get to teach her at her house, so that is awesome.

We have transfer calls this weekend on Saturday, and Trunk or Treat to look forward to for next week.

Have a great week!

Love ya,
Sis. Donner

Hey-Ho, Nobody Home...

Wearing the funny teeth
This whole week was so-so.  Basically nobody was home.

My least favorite day of the week was Wednesday because I had a horrible headache, it lasted the whole day, so we stayed home.  Sis. Fonua actually took care of me and scolded me for not telling her sooner.

Now I have caught a cold, so I am dealing with that.  I am staying away from the shoes that caused my heel to bleed, which is almost healed up, but there is a nice little scar.

Our investigator Liz is 16, she goes to seminary and is just amazing!  She knows the church is true and reads and prays every day.  She is the perfect example of a golden investigator.

There were three things that made me laugh this week.  First, when Sis. Fonua threw the phone after we were called to speak in church on Sunday, which went well.  Second, I was trying to light the candle you sent me and kept burning myself, which I love by-the-way.  And third was on Friday for zone meeting we had 20 pizzas ordered and only three were left, so the next day we had pizza for dinner.  I thought I was going to be sick.

Favorite part of this past week was Saturday because so many unexpected things happened.  They we good unexpected things, such as a member taking us out for milk shakes.

Something that really touched me this week is the topic we were given to speak on in sacrament was the gift of the Holy Ghost.  You know me and writing, I ain’t good at it.  Surprisingly enough, the zone leaders spoke on the Holy Ghost during our zone training meeting which really helped me to know what to talk about.  So church yesterday was good except for me speaking.  I was lightheaded the whole time I was speaking.  Thankfully though, the spirit helped me speak slowly and clearly.  Everyone in the ward apparently thought it was a good talk.

Our plans for today are to go shopping.  After that, I don’t know what we will do.  We have interviews with the mission President this Wednesday.

I don’t think I need anything.

Here are a few pictures:
Snoopy Pumpkin I drew during down time,

Kari's Baptism during conference sessions.

All those pizzas.

Mellow Week...

OK so sorry, I thought we wouldn’t be able to be on today.

Anyways, this week was pretty mellow.  Meet the Mormons was a great movie, I highly recommend it!

On Wednesday I was trying to rinse out containers a family used.  Well, their youngest daughter (age 5) wanted to help too, so she took the hose, and instead of spraying water on the containers, she got me!  It was pretty funny!

My least favorite part of last week was Thursday because while walking, one of my shoes decided to cut into the back of my ankle.  When I finally looked back, the whole back of my shoe was covered in blood…so that was fun.

My favorite part of this week was of course conference.  It answered questions I had long since forgotten, like I had had a question on how the whole picking the new prophet worked.  I was really touched when Elder Godyo spoke.  His comment on reading his patriarchal blessing and how he asked himself if he continued to do things he was currently doing, would it help him receive the promised blessings I have been asking myself that same question recently, so his talk really helped me to understand what I need to do.

One thing that was awesome this week was on Saturday, the young adult Kari that we had taught two lessons, was baptized during the break time between sessions of conference.  It was really awesome to see!

During the priesthood session of conference we got to go over to the mission home, have ice cream, and hand out.  When President Cannon came home we were all downstairs on the couch, so we decided to pretend we were sleeping on the couch.  When Pres. Cannon came down the stairs he saw us all sleeping and just stood there.  Then we all popped up and started laughing.  He looked relieved.

I haven’t received the package yet, hopefully this week I will.

This is probably the most I have ever written. Lol

Loved Women's Conference!

My week was pretty average.  I did get more sleep this week.  Thank goodness!  I did pick up the probiotics and they do help.

I loved all the letters I received, it really helped with all the things I have been thinking about.

I did receive Kasie’s video message.  Oh my goodness, that was so sweet of her!

Saturday was my favorite part of last week because of the Women’s Broadcast.  I loved the talk by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf.  I love that he talked about living the gospel joyfully and that he liked each of us to different temples.

My least favorite day of last week was I think Tuesday because it was hot, and basically nobody was home.

Friday we had district meeting and the elders were driving us back home from the meeting.  I don’t know why, but our zone leaders were in rare form that day.  Everything we did was irritating them and they were teasingly threatening us every minute. Lol  That made me laugh.

Sis. Fonua and I are doing well.  Both our district and zone are fine.

Church yesterday was pretty good.  I actually helped with the lesson in Relief Society and I actually didn’t shake when speaking.  I was asked to share a story about great grandma.

For conference we are staying in our house and watching it.

Oh, real quick, the Family History Center will be closed next Monday due to some upgrading of the computers, so no emails next week.

OK, I gotta go.

Love YA!

Birthday Time

This week we had the ward talent show and it was really awesome.  The bishop of the ward sang an old rock song, it was awesome.  There was a lot of hidden talent revealed.

My favorite part of last week was Thursday because it was Sis. Fonua’s Birthday and we had a pretty good day.  For her birthday I made her a birthday cake at our house.  We went to the Golden Corral for dinner where she had another cake; she turned 21.

My least favorite day was Sunday because I was sick the whole day, but I did stay awake in church.  Church seemed to last so long.  I’m not sure what was causing me to be sick, but I was sweating a lot and had a stomach ache.  Cris, the lady who was baptized last Saturday, enjoys being a member.  She is getting to meet a lot of new people.

Something that touched my spirit this week was receiving the letter from home, it was the perfect time to receive it.

Sis. Fonua made me laugh this week when she tried to get me back for scaring her.  This week she succeeded in scaring me twice, once when she had crouched down by the wall and the second times was when she popped out when I was coming out of the bathroom.  I love Sis. Fonua, we are doing great!

I got to hold a kitty.
Health wise I have been struggling with getting a decent night’s sleep.  It has become really frustrating, so I started taking Melatonin again.

Our plans for today are to go shopping, cleaning, and I don’t know what else.  I am looking forward to the women’s broadcast this week.

It’s almost time for me to leave.  Gotta go.

Love ya!

BAPTISM!!!!

This last week was good!  Sis Fonua and I are staying companions, which isn’t bad, I just need to get to know her a little better.  Basically, the whole district is staying the same.
Cris’ baptism was interesting to the least.  Anything that could go wrong, did.  There was a baptism in front of ours that went over, so we had to wait with everyone that came to support Cris, and wait for the other people to leave.  Then a video we were going to show wasn’t working, so one of our Zone leaders saved the day.  Overall it was a good baptism.  She was so happy!

So my favorite part of last week was the Baptism day!  It was so awesome to finally see someone I taught get baptized.

My least favorite day was Friday because I was sick and I had a headache that just wouldn't leave.

Something that touched me spiritually is I had been praying the night before the transfer calls.  For me this had been a really hard transfer, and I basically ask to be moved, but I asked that if I were to stay that I would understand why.  Well today when thinking about why, I realized that I truly needed to get to know Sis. Fonua.  So basically Heavenly Father answered my prayer by giving me a different perspective.

So a couple of things made me laugh this week.  Top one is yesterday, it was the primary program for our ward.  The little kids were doing all sorts of cute things, but there was one little boy in front of us that wouldn’t stop making faces at us.  It was just too funny.  The second funny thing is on our way home yesterday, Sis. Fonua hadn’t been watching where she was walking and walked right into a swarm of bugs, it was really funny watching her freak out swatting the flies.  Third, Elder James was being a stinker again, so when shaking his hand I squeezed it hard.  LOL He was a bit surprised.

Physically I am doing much better, just can’t stretch much.  Emotionally I am doing much better too.

This week I am looking forward to the ward talent show on Friday, it should be fun.

Yes, I did get the chocolate and it is almost gone.

Well, I gotta go!  Love ya!

Sis. Donner

Wonderful ladies
